In the last two weeks, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has held several draws, inviting thousands of candidates to apply for an IEC open work permit. The draws offer international youth a golden chance to acquire Canadian work experience and tap into the country’s dynamic job market. Latest IEC Draws Overview From February 10 to February 23, 2025, Canada released a total of 6,414 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) under the IEC program. On February 21, 2025, there were 25,535 candidates waiting in the pool, waiting with bated breath for their invitation to pursue a professional career in Canada. These IEC Draws offer young professionals a great chance to gain work experience abroad and discover career opportunities in Canada. Here’s a breakdown of ITAs issued to candidates from different countries: Australia – 415 ITAs Austria – 14 ITAs Belgium – 62 ITAs Chile – 213 ITAs Costa Rica – 23 ITAs Croatia – 8 ITAs Czech Republic – 299 ITAs Denmark – 14 ITAs Estonia – 6 ITAs Finland – 5 ITAs France – 1,796 ITAs Germany – 275 ITAs Greece – 21 ITAs Hong Kong – 24 ITAs Ireland – 335 ITAs Italy – 131 ITAs Japan – 349 ITAs Korea – 799 ITAs Latvia – 9 ITAs Lithuania – 20 ITAs Luxembourg – 2 ITAs Netherlands – 88 ITAs New Zealand – 114 ITAs Norway – 11 ITAs Poland – 43 ITAs Portugal – 53 ITAs Slovakia – 25 ITAs Slovenia – 3 ITAs Spain – 122 ITAs Sweden – 21 ITAs Switzerland – 22 ITAs Taiwan – 191 ITAs United Kingdom – 901 ITAs Get a Free Assessment Strong Start to the IEC Program in 2025 To date, Canada has released 39,667 ITAs through the IEC program in 2025. This is a robust beginning, demonstrating the nation’s determination to promote global youth mobility and its workforce with capable people from across the globe. What is the International Experience Canada (IEC) Program? The IEC program is intended for youths from its partner nations who wish to work, stay, and acquire useful experience in Canada. It is implemented in three primary categories and chooses candidates via IEC Draws, in which qualified applicants are invited to apply for a work permit. Working Holiday – Offers an open work permit enabling participants to work anywhere in Canada. Young Professionals – Provides an employer-specific work permit for the candidate with an actual job offer in Canada. International Co-op (Internship) – Assists students in acquiring work experience in their area of study. Why Choose Canada for Work and Travel? Canada is one of the leading countries for young professionals and travelers seeking to improve their career prospects. Here’s why: Varied Job Opportunities – Canada boasts a robust labor market with high demand in many different sectors. Pathway to Permanent Residence – Most IEC Draws participants advance to permanent residence via streams such as Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP). Quality of Life – Canada boasts a high standard of living, security, and diversity. Cultural Experience – Working in Canada provides opportunities for individuals to get immersed in a multicultural setting while gaining work experience. Can I participate in International Experience Canada more than once? Yes, you can apply to International Experience Canada (IEC) more than once, but the frequency varies by the country you are from. A few countries have reciprocal agreements whereby people can take part in IEC twice or three times in different categories like Working Holiday, Young Professionals, or International Co-op (Internship). But every nation has its own policy on repeat participation, and some permit only once.  To increase your chances, keeping yourself informed about IEC draws and quota allocations for your nation is crucial. If you have already participated and wish to apply again, make sure you are eligible and check whether your nation’s agreement allows multiple participations. Start Your Immigration Journey Today! permanent residents

Canada welcomed 300,000 permanent residents in 2022

Canada welcomes 300,000 permanent residents 2022 as of August 22, 2022, Canada welcomed more than 300,000 permanent residents, surpassing the record earlier than in any previous year. Over 217,000 new Canadians were granted Canadian citizenship in 2021–2022, which is more than the country’s targets. So far this fiscal year (from April 1 to July 31), Canada has welcomed over 116,000 new citizens, compared to just over 35,000 during the same period last year. On April 1, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) started offering virtual citizenship ceremonies, and by July 31, 2022, close to 394,000 people had taken the Oath of Citizenship in nearly 15,000 events using a digital platform.   What is a Permanent Resident? A permanent resident is a person who has been given permanent residency in Canada. This means that they have been given the right to live and work in Canada permanently. Permanent residents can be immigrants, refugees, or people who have received a visa as a result of being sponsored by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Permanent residents can be divided into two groups: Canadian citizens and immigrants. Canadian citizens are people who were born in Canada or who have become naturalized Canadians. Immigrants are people who are not Canadian citizens. They come from countries all over the world and have to meet certain requirements before they can become permanent residents. These requirements include having a good education and job experience in Canada, being able to speak English well, and having no criminal record. Once a person has been granted permanent resident status, they are able to apply for Canadian citizenship. This is a process that takes many years and requires meeting specific requirements. However, once they have become Canadian citizens, they are able to enjoy all the benefits that come with being a Canadian citizen.    Get a free Assessment   Canadian citizenship is being modernized. In August 2021, the IRCC launched a citizenship portal that allows certain citizenship applications to be submitted online. This tool has been made available so that groups of adults aged 18 and above can apply together. By the end of the year, IRCC intends to expand the tool’s features to include online applications for youngsters under the age of 18. Canada has already surpassed its 2021-2022 citizenship targets by receiving nearly 217,000 new citizens. From April 1 to July 31, Canada has already invited more than 116,000 new citizens, compared to 35,000 during the same period in 2021.   Canada welcomed 300,000 permanent residents in 2022. The Government of Canada is welcoming 300,000 permanent residents in 2022. This represents an increase of 25% over the number of permanent residents welcomed in 2017. This increase is expected to contribute to the growth of the Canadian economy, create jobs, and help meet the needs of Canadians. The Government of Canada is committed to ensuring that permanent residents have access to important services, such as healthcare and social assistance. Following a drop in immigrants due to pandemic-related travel restrictions in 2020, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) increased immigration in 2021, completing the year with a record-breaking 405,330 newcomers. Despite this, IRCC didn’t reach 300,000 until the fourth quarter of that year. By the end of June, around 231,620 newcomers had arrived in Canada. The difference in numbers from the end of June to the end of August shows that Canada welcomed around 68,000 permanent residents over the period of two months.  If this rate continues for the next four months, Canada may meet or even exceed its objective of 431,000 new immigrants in 2022. If the immigration service meets this goal, it will break the previous record established in 2021.         Join our newsletter and get up-to-date immigration news Click here.    Available data shows which countries immigrants are leaving and which Canadian regions and territories they are settling in. IRCC rounds data to the nearest five as part of an effort to protect individual privacy, and prevent individuals from being identified. As a result, the sum of the data may not always equal the total. Permanent residents can also apply for Canadian citizenship if they meet the requirements. Immigration Minister Sean Fraser considers Immigration as its people. It is basically about beginning a new job, reuniting with the family, and/or building a new life in Canada.
