Ontario Masters Graduate stream issued 692 invitations on January 25, 2023, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued 692 invitations to apply (ITAs) to potential candidates in the Expression of Interest system pool for the Ontario Masters Graduate stream.  Candidates who received an invitation had a minimum score of 44 points, 2 points fewer than in the previous draw.  The profiles of selected candidates were created between November 22, 2022, and January 25, 2023. In total, this year, the province invited 2,970 candidates in five draws under the OINP streams. British Columbia issued new invitations in the Skilled Worker – International Graduate categories of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP).  According to the latest BC PNP draws In the Tech-targeted draw, BC issued 123 invitations with a minimum score of 90 points.    In the Childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 42202), the province invited up to 5 candidates who scored 60 points. In the Healthcare-targeted draw, the province issued 17 invitations. Additionally, fewer than 5 invitations have been issued for other priority occupations (NOCs 31103, 32104). The province invited up to 150 candidates whose score was between 60-90 points. On January 9, 2023, Newfoundland and Labrador announced that the provincial government was preparing to recruit physicians and nurses from Ireland to fill vacancies in the province. IRCC held the first Express Entry draw of 2023 On January 11, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 5,500 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates under Express Entry. In the first Express Entry draw of 2023, IRCC continued inviting candidates under all immigration programs.    In the first Express Entry draw of 2023 In round #237, the cut-off score was 507 points, 16 points more than the previous draw. The tie-breaking rule for this round was December 6, 2022, at 11:00:07 UTC. As of January 11, 2023, there are 243,255 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool, 11,040 more than the previous update. Last year, Canada issued 46,538 ITAs through Express Entry.   There was no specific program targeted by the first Express Entry draw of 2023. This means that applicants from the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades (FSTP) were qualified to receive invitations. A minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 507 points was also required for invited candidates. There are 16 extra points than in the last draw.   Canada 2023 – 2025 Immigration Target  The immigration strategy is encouraged by the 2023–2025 plan as a way to help businesses in filling positions. In addition, it aims to attract talent for key fields including technology, manufacturing, and skilled trades. The social and economic challenges Canada will face in the coming decades will be easier to manage as a result. The number of new immigrants coming to Canada will grow during the following three years. Towards the middle of 2023, Canada plans to welcome 465,000 new immigrants. 485,000 new immigrants will be the target by 2024. 500,000 more immigrants will be recruited in 2025. The new plan also aims to expand regional initiatives like the Provincial Nominee Program, the Atlantic Immigration Program, and the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot to address specific local labor market requirements. Express Entry conducted 23 draws and issued 46,538 ITAs in 2022. This includes the first half of the year when all other program draws were closed and just PNP draws were conducted.   What is Express Entry? Three of Canada’s federal economic immigration programs for skilled workers are managed and processed through Express Entry, an application management system used by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Express Entry is a merit-based immigration system that compares all qualified candidates and invites the top-scoring candidates to apply for Canadian permanent resident status. Candidates are compared to one another based on a variety of factors, including age, education, language ability, work experience, and others. Canada utilizes an online system called Express Entry to handle applications for three different types of permanent residency: Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): skilled workers seeking to immigrate to Canada permanently and who are qualified in a skilled trade. The majority of applicants are young, well-educated, have some work experience, and speak either English or French. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): skilled workers seeking permanent immigration to Canada who have foreign work experience. In particular, in areas like Banff that need seasonal workers, we are boosting our economy and assisting our businesses by providing youth with the opportunity to experience international travel and employment.”   Minister of Women, Gender Equality, and Youth, the Honorable Marci Ien says: “Youth from other countries contribute so much to our nation. International youth benefit communities across Canada by promoting cross-cultural connections and assisting our businesses in flourishing. The announcement made on December 1, 2022, will help the tourism sector, which needs to address labor shortages, while also giving young people the chance to learn about Canadian cultures, languages, and societies”.   What are Canada’s youth mobility arrangements?  Through the IEC program, Canada has agreements with 36 countries and foreign territories that allow youth from those countries to work and travel for up to two years in Canada. On January 4, 2022, Saskatchewan updated the  SINP application processing times of various streams of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program. According to the new data, in the fourth quarter of 2022, in the International Skilled Worker category, the processing time in the Employment Offer stream was 1 week, in the Occupation In-Demand stream – 8 weeks, and in the Express Entry stream – 9 weeks.    In the Saskatchewan Experience category, the processing time in the Existing Work Permit stream, International Students stream, and the Truck Drivers stream was 1 week. The SINP has not provided any information regarding the processing times for the Health Professionals and Hospitality Workers streams. In the Entrepreneur and Farm categories, the processing time for the Entrepreneur Applications was 2 weeks, while for the Entrepreneur Nominations, it was 4 weeks. The province has not provided any information regarding the processing times for the Farmers’ stream. The Job Approval Process, the authorization for an employer to hire a foreign worker through the SINP, took 8 weeks for specified workers and 13 weeks for not specified workers.   SINP Application Processing Times Each quarter, the processing time is updated (every three months). It displays how long it usually takes to finish an application throughout that quarter. For each category, the duration is indicated in weeks. Processing times are not always a reliable indicator for upcoming applications because they may fluctuate. An application’s processing time is calculated starting from the time it is first received. Anomalies are removed from averages, and typically comprise up the fastest and slowest 10% of applications, accordingly.   What is SINP? There is a way to immigrate to Canada known as the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The SINP is only one of the criteria to become a permanent resident of Saskatchewan. All selected candidates are required to submit a residency application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the Canadian Immigration Commission. British Columbia held the first BC PNP draw 2023, On January 4, 2023, the Government of British Columbia issued new invitations under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) and invited qualified Skills, and Immigration candidates. In the general draw, the province invited 163 candidates. The minimum score for candidates invited to this draw was 82-105 points. In addition, British Columbia invited 28 candidates under the childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 42202). In the Healthcare-targeted draw, BC invited 20 candidates. In total, the province invited up to 211 candidates for this draw. The BC PNPs nominee programs help to invite these candidates;    Health Care Professional Category: Foreign workers who have received a valid job offer for skilled employment from an acceptable business belong under the category of skilled workers. Health Care Professional Category: To apply for a Canada PR visa as a nurse, physician, psychiatric nurse, or other member of the medical field under this category, the applicant must have an acceptable employment offer and several years of relevant experience.         Entry-level and Semi-skilled Worker Category: This subcategory is for immigrants who want to apply for certain semi-skilled or entry-level jobs in the tourism and hospitality industry, food processing, and long-haul trucking. International Post-Graduate Category: For foreign nationals who have obtained a master’s or doctoral degree from a recognized university located in the province of British Columbia.
