Ontario issued 725 invitations through the Master Graduate Stream on December 21, 2022, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued 725 invitations to apply (ITAs) to potential candidates in the Expression of Interest system pool for the Master Graduate stream. The minimum score of this round was 46 points, 11 points more than in the previous program-specific draw.    This was the highest score for the stream in 2022. The profiles of selected candidates were created between November 22, 2022, and December 21, 2022. In 2022, the province invited 3,890 candidates under this stream. Successful candidates must show that they have lived in Ontario for at least 12 of the previous 24 months. language ability The Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 is the minimum language competency score required for the Master’s Graduate program in either English or French. Education Level Candidates must have earned a master’s degree from an Ontario university within the last two years in order to be eligible. Settlement Funds Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has set the settlement funds requirement for all applicants to the Ontario Masters Graduate stream (IRCC). This can be demonstrated by looking at their own finances or by keeping a job offer that is still in effect. Manitoba invited 305 candidates in MPNP in draw #160

On December 2, 2022, Manitoba held a new invitation round in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). In round #160, MPNP issued 206 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream. The minimum score to get the LAA in this category was 775 points, 22 points fewer than the previous draw. In the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, Manitoba issued 43 LAAs.    The lowest score in the SWO category was 673 points, 13 points fewer than in the previous round. In addition, Manitoba invited 56 candidates in the International Education Stream. Thus, in this draw, Manitoba has issued LAAs to 305 candidates, including 31 Express Entry candidates. MPNP has invited 6,076 candidates in 2022, and 1,251 received invitations in the Express Entry.   Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) is one of the most popular of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs or PNPs. The Conference Board released a report recommending boosting PNP slots for international students. The Conference Board of Canada has announced that Canada could see an increase in international student immigration if the provinces could nominate more students through Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP). The most common way that former international students become permanent residents is through the PNP. By increasing the number of PNP slots for international students, Canada can make it easier for them to stay and help retain talent in the country.    According to Report After School: According to the Conference Board of Canada’s report After School: Keeping International Students in Province, Canadian provinces also need to improve their settlement services for international students seeking permanent residence in Canada. “Provincial governments should make an early investment in the success of overseas students to aid in their career and community link growth, which will ultimately promote retention.” “The time after graduation can be uncertain. Without access to government-supported settlement services, international students are managing the transition to the labor market and the immigration system, according to the Conference Board of Canada” “By ensuring that international students receive help from their post-secondary institution and from provincially supported settlement services, provinces can increase retention”   Rankings of Canadian Universities Canada’s colleges and universities are known for their excellent global reputation. Three Canadian universities—the University of Toronto (UofT), the University of British Columbia (UBC), and McGill University—placed among the top 100 in the ninth annual Best Global Universities ranking of 2,000 of these educational institutions worldwide. Additionally, 15 more Canadian universities made it into the top 25 of the list of the top 2,000 universities. The University of Toronto came in at number eighteen. UBC came in 35th. The third-best university in Canada is McGill University. The following Canadian universities also ranked in the top 25% of all universities worldwide: University of Alberta McMaster University Université de Montréal University of Calgary University of Waterloo University of Ottawa University of Western Ontario Dalhousie University Simon Fraser University University of Victoria University of Manitoba Laval University York University Queen’s University University of Guelph   Improving programs to keep overseas students in the country could significantly increase immigration, according to the most recent data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).   Canada is on track to issue a record number of study permits. With 418,260 international students getting a study permit in the first nine months of this year, according to IRCC data, Canada is on track to break its previous record for study permits issued. If the current process continues, Canada may end this year with 557,680 study permits issued. That would be 113,200 more study permits than were given last year (444,480), or over 25.5% more. With a rise from 219,035 in 2015 to record-breaking levels today, the number of study permits awarded to foreign students entering Canada has more than doubled since that year. Once granted, a study permit enables a foreign individual to pursue their academic goals in Canada at an approved institution for the duration of the specified course or program.   There are some exceptions. Under the following circumstances, foreign people may attend school in Canada without needing a study permit: the academic course or program is shorter than six months in length; The student is either an employee or family member of a foreign representative in Canada or; The student serves in a foreign military.   Students who want to study in Canada must: have received acceptance from a Canadian school, college, university, or other educational organization. have demonstrated they have the financial means to cover their living expenses, tuition fees, and any additional family members they wish to bring to Canada with them. be law-abiding persons without a criminal history who do not pose a threat to Canada’s security. They can be required to offer a police certificate. be in good health and ready, if required, to undergo a medical examination. convince an immigration officer that they will depart Canada after their permitted stay is over.   International Students With Study Permits Are Allowed To Work In Canada If the student is from a nation from which such visas are required for entry into Canada, a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) may also be required. Visa-exempt nationals are exempt from this requirement.   Students are allowed to work during their studies in Canada by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Under the following circumstances, a student may be allowed to work in Canada while they are studying: without a Work Permit on campus. with a work permit, off campus. with a work permit in co-op and internship programs, where practical experience is a requirement for admission.   For the period of the study permit, foreign students’ spouses or common-law partners are also eligible for employment permits. A foreign student may use the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program to apply for a work permit after graduating. Only a few provinces offer these kinds of streams, and occasionally there are additional conditions that would prevent an applicant applying who lives and works outside of Canada.    Nova Scotia In-Demand Occupations One of the streams of the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP), a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) run by the province of Nova Scotia, is named “Occupations In Demand.” This stream aims to hire people who have a job offer from a Nova Scotian employer in a wanted profession.   The National Occupational Classification’s TEER category 3, 4, or 5 occupations that are in high demand on the Nova Scotian labor market are the focus of the Occupations in Demand stream. Nova Scotia. Jobs that are in high demand change from time to time. Nova Scotia increased the number of National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes eligible under the Occupations In-Demand stream.    Nova Scotia PNP – Occupations In-Demand stream: The updated list of eligible occupations with new NOC codes is as follows : NOC 65200 – Food and beverage servers  NOC 65201 – Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers, and related support occupations NOC 65310 – Light duty cleaners NOC 75110 – Construction trades helpers and laborers NOC 73400 Heavy equipment operators NOC 75110 Construction trades helpers and laborers.   Nova Scotia PNP – International Graduates in Demand stream: Two in-demand professions in Nova Scotia have a new stream that has introduced new NOC codes: NOC 33102: nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates NOC 42202: early childhood educators and assistants   Nova Scotia PNP – Physician Streams: The province has two more streams that include three in-demand professions that are listed below according to their new NOC codes NOC 31102 – General practitioners and family physicians NOC 31100 – Specialists in clinical and laboratory medicine NOC 31101 – Specialists in surgery   Candidates with a job offer from one of Nova Scotia’s companies can apply for this PNP stream. IRCC announced the International Experience Canada IEC 2023 Program opening date

On December 1, 2022, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), announced a 20% increase in the 2023 International Experience Canada (IEC) Program, which will open on January 9, 2023.    The IEC Program in Canada allows foreign youth from 36 partner countries to come and work or travel in Canada for two years. The ages that are eligible for the program range from 18 to 35, but this number may differ depending on which country the individual is coming from.   Most Honorable Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Sean Fraser stated: “Our government is supporting more foreign youth in working and traveling in Canada, so helping employers, namely those in the tourism sector, in filling open positions. In particular, in regions like Banff that need seasonal labor, we are growing our economy and helping our businesses by providing youth with the chance to experience international travel and employment.”   The statement of The Honourable Minister of Women, Gender Equality, and Youth Marci Ien: “Youth from other countries contribute so much to our nation. International youngsters benefit communities across Canada by building cross-cultural relationships and helping our businesses in growing. The announcement made today will help the tourism sector, which needs to address labor shortfalls, while also giving young people the chance to learn about Canadian cultures, languages, and societies.   International Experience Canada (IEC) Youths can travel and work in Canada for up to two years through International Experience Canada (IEC).  Working Holiday:  IEC participants in this stream “receive an open work permit that allows them to work anywhere in the host country” as a means of “supporting their travels.” International Co-op (Internship): Participants in this IEC stream receive a work permit that is customized to their business. Students can get specialized work experience in their subject of study with the help of this targeted work permit. Young Professionals: Like those in the international co-op stream, participants in this IEC program stream also get an employer-specific work permit. Ottawa introduced amendments to the AIP after the NOC 2021 change

On November 29, 2022, the Government of Canada published changes to the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) after the implementation of the NOC 2021.  For the education criteria, those with a job offer under Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) 0 or 1 must possess at least a Canadian 1-year post-secondary credential.  Those with a job offer under TEER 2, 3, or 4 must possess at least a Canadian high school diploma.  For TEER 0, 1, 2, and 3 of the NOC, applicants must meet the minimum criteria for level 5 of the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) system in English or French.  Those applying for TEER 4 must provide CLB 4 in one of the official languages.  For TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3, employers must provide a job that will last at least 1 year.  For TEER 4 job offers, applicants must be offered permanent employment with no set end date.   Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) The AIP is a business initiative that offers to foreign nationals who have job offers in the Atlantic area, have been approved by an Atlantic province, and who meet the basic requirements for education, work experience, and language fluency. British Columbia invited 336 Skilled Immigration candidates after the NOC change

British Columbia invited the first Skilled Immigration candidates after the NOC change On November 28, 2022, the Government of British Columbia issued new invitations under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and invited qualified Skills Immigration candidates. In the general draw, the province invited 253 candidates. The minimum score for candidates invited to this draw was 82-105 points. In addition, British Columbia invited 49 candidates under the childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 42202).    In the Healthcare-targeted draw, BC invited 24 candidates. Additionally, fewer than five invitations have been issued for healthcare assistants (NOC 33102) and fewer than five ITAs for other priority occupations (NOCs 31103, 32104). In total, the province invited up to 336 candidates for this draw. The new NOC 2021 made truck drivers eligible for Express Entry

Express Entry is now available to truck drivers following the implementation of the new National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021. The update was announced by Immigration Minister Sean Fraser in August, and 16 new jobs were added to the Federal Skilled Worker Program with the launch of the new NOC system on November 16.    Transport Truck Drivers take NOC code 73300 under this classification. It is still uncertain how truck drivers will be chosen through Express Entry. Canada might start conducting draws based on certain industries and occupations next year, so it is possible that truck drivers will be targeted then.   Shortage of truck drivers in Canada The industry is experiencing a serious shortage of skilled workers as a result of various reasons, including high retirement rates and layoffs during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the second quarter of 2021, there was 18,000 open employment in the Canadian truck driver industry, according to the 2021 Labour Market Snapshot of Trucking HR Canada. Because trucking is such an important part of Canada’s supply chain, labor shortages and other interruptions have a major impact on the country’s economy. According to the research, the trucking and logistics sector in Canada transports goods worth over $850 billion to both domestic and international markets. The Forest Products Association of Canada calculated that the industry was already losing $450 million in productivity because of the truck driver shortage even before the global pandemic emerged.   Express Entry for truck driver jobs in Canada. Alberta issued 6,084 nominations in 2022

On November 22, 2022, Alberta published the update considering the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) inventory. According to the new update, there were around 970 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 290 Expressions of Interest in the Alberta Express Entry pool.  Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) allocated a quota of 6,250 nominations to Alberta in 2021 under the AAIP, and the AAIP issued all 6,250 certificates last year. For 2022, IRCC provided 6,500 nominations for the AAIP. This year, Alberta nominated 6,084 applicants and invited 2,320 candidates. The following is a summary of Macklem’s talks regarding the importance of immigration in assisting in the balance of the Canadian labour market, with a focus on describing how businesses may increase the pool of available employees to address challenges in the Canadian labour market and growing inflation. As he stressed that there is a shortage of workers in the Canadian labour market currently, Governor Macklem initially highlighted immigration.   The governor of the BOC says that increasing income pressure across the nation as a result of a labour shortage has increased inflation.
