requirements for caregivers

Canada reduces work experience requirements for caregivers

Canada reduces work experience requirements for caregivers on February 10, 2023, the Government of Canada announced that the amount of work experience in Canada required for a caregiver to be eligible for permanent residence had decreased from 24 months to 12 months.    Furthermore, some spots in the existing caregivers’ pathways have been kept open to caregivers with past work experience in Canada so they can apply for permanent residence.    Starting April 30, 2023, this change will be applied retroactively to all caregivers who have already submitted their applications. As a result, they and their families can make the most of an expedited pathway toward permanent residency in Canada.   The other eligibility requirements are the same. Candidates for both programs must demonstrate the following: Results of a language test showing a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of 5. one year of postsecondary education in Canada or its equivalent abroad; and passing an entry exam (health, criminality, and security).   Candidates must now be able to show the following in terms of job experience: Work experience that corresponds to NOC codes 4411 or 4412 for national occupational classification. It cannot be a combination of both jobs; the work experience must be in one of these jobs. The candidate’s job matched most of the main responsibilities as stated in the NOC job description. A week of paid work should include at least 30 hours to be considered proper.   The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Said:  “Caregivers are a valuable option for Canadian families and have assisted many growing children, elderly parents, and people who require more specialized care. By reducing the amount of work experience required in Canada to one year, more caretakers and their families will be eligible to change to a permanent residence more quickly, allowing them to settle down and begin their new lives in Canada.”   – Salma Zahid, Member of Parliament for Scarborough Centre “Caregivers are essential in assisting Canadian families, so it is an honor for us to give them a faster route to permanent residence and successful integration into Canadian society. Recognizing the sacrifices made by caretakers and the significance of their service to Canadian society, the administration has reduced the required work experience and reserved certain pathways to permanent residence.”   – Rechie Valdez, Member of Parliament for Mississauga-Streetsville  “It is our responsibility to help Canadian caretakers. We may show our appreciation for the dedication and efforts of caretakers in a variety of ways as well as by reducing work experience requirements and creating unique pathways to permanent residency. To recognize the value that caretakers bring to our society and to Canada, we are committed to improving the procedure and implementing the necessary improvements.   Want to know more details about “Canada reduces work experience requirements for caregivers” you can contact one of our immigration specialists at  Gunness & Associates.   Tel: (416) 604-2669  Email: info@immigrationmatters.info Gunness & Associates has helped thousands of people successfully immigrate to Canada with their families. open work permit

Ottawa open work permit program extended for Hong Kong nationals

On February 6, 2023, the Government of Canada extended the Ottawa open work permit program for eligible Hong Kong nationals. According to the expanded eligibility requirements, Hong Kong residents who have graduated within the past ten years from a post-secondary learning institution in Canada or abroad can obtain a work permit for up to 3 years.    Before, only those who had graduated within the last five years were eligible for application. Moreover, Canada has created two pathways to permanent residency for qualified Hong Kong nationals and their families. Immigration Minister Honourable Sean Fraser, “expanding the open work permit public policy also means that spouses, common-law partners, and dependent children of Hong Kong residents can apply for a study or work permit in Canada, resulting in even more workers for employers to hire and more people coming to our communities.” “We need to continue to bring in more immigrants to ensure that Canadian business owners can hire the workers they need to support our economy.” In November 2020, Ottawa committed to creating a program for immigrants from Hong Kong to immigrate to Canada. The federal government announced two additional routes to permanent residency for Hong Kong residents in June 2021, shortly after the work-permit plan went into effect.   The two routes are typically referred to as Stream A and Stream B.  For Stream A, candidates must have completed their post-secondary education in Canada within the previous three years.  For Stream B, applicants must have at least one year of work experience in Canada and a recent post-secondary degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution or its foreign equivalent.   Those who applied for an open work permit are advised to proceed through Stream B, and because applicants had to have graduated within the previous five years, by the time they applied for that permanent residency option, those on the open work permit might have outgrown that criterion.   Want to know more details about the “Ottawa open work permit program extended for Hong Kong nationals” you can contact one of our immigration specialists at  Gunness & Associates.   Tel: (416) 604-2669  Email: info@immigrationmatters.info Gunness & Associates has helped thousands of people successfully immigrate to Canada with their families. Newfoundland and Labrador

Newfoundland and Labrador to recruit physicians and nurses from Ireland

On January 9, 2023, Newfoundland and Labrador announced that the provincial government was preparing to recruit physicians and nurses from Ireland to fill vacancies in the province. Ireland has been selected due to its physician training standards being comparable to those in Newfoundland and Labrador, along with the vast opportunity for recruiting nurses who are eligible for licensure.    The province’s Ministry of Health and Community Services will send a team to Ireland to raise awareness of Newfoundland and Labrador as an ideal immigration destination.    The team headed for Ireland this week will be headed by the Honorable Tom Osborne, the minister of health and community services. In order to promote Newfoundland and Labrador as attractive immigration destinations, the team will visit a number of cities. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador, the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Regional Health Authorities will all have representatives on the team.   The team will look for hiring options for nurses who fulfill equivalent license requirements because Ireland’s training standards for doctors are equivalent to those in Newfoundland and Labrador. Additionally, a large number of excellent medical and nursing schools were picked for the region. The provincial government has made a substantial investment of $30 million to attract and retain healthcare professionals.   An overview of the Newfoundland and Labrador  Canada’s easternmost province, Newfoundland and Labrador, is located in the Atlantic area. The province, with a land area of 405,212 square kilometers, is made up of the island of Newfoundland and the continent of Labrador. 521,758 people were predicted to live in the province in 2021. 94% of the people in the province reside on the island of Newfoundland, with the Avalon Peninsula hosting the majority of people. The French overseas territory of Saint Pierre and Miquelon is located about 20 km west of the Burin Peninsula and is surrounded by the Canadian province of Labrador.   The most linguistically homogeneous province in Canada is Newfoundland and Labrador, where 97.0% of people reported English as their first language in the 2016 census. jobs in the building trades

Canada needs more skilled workers to fill jobs in the building trades

Canada needs more skilled workers to fill jobs in the building trades. As Baby Boomers retire from their respective positions, Canada desperately needs foreign nationals to take up the empty positions and fill the one million open jobs. Housing and Diversity Inclusion Minister Ahmed Hussein insists on immigration as an essential resource for economic growth, citing skilled immigrants are needed to provide real solutions for businesses seeking workers in the building trades.    In response to Canadians’ concerns that increased immigration leads to skyrocketing housing prices and shortages, the Housing and Diversity and Inclusion Minister disagreed with this argument. Despite the apprehension that new immigrants to Canada will inevitably raise housing prices, numerous studies have demonstrated this concern is unfounded. Many believe immigration increases demand and bolster the economy, which drives house values.   Housing and Diversity Inclusion Minister Ahmed Hussein reportedly told Global News in a year-end interview,  “We know there are over a million positions in Canada that remain unfilled, so we need immigrants, skilled immigrants, to come in and assist us to fill those unfilled jobs and help us expand our economy.”   The most common areas of  jobs in the building trades in Canada Over 1.3 million people are employed in the construction industry in Canada, which provides about 7% of the nation’s GDP (GDP). The most typical building areas are as follows: Residential (single unit, low-rise, high-rise) (single unit, low-rise, high-rise). ICI Buildings (institutional, commercial, and industrial) (institutional, commercial, and industrial). Infrastructure (transportation, water, utilities) (transportation, water, utilities). Mining. Gas and oil. Although technically a part of the oil and gas sector, LNG is considered to be a separate, newly emerging industry.   Canada, the second-largest country in the world, has only about 38 million individuals, so it still depends on foreign labor to maintain its building industry. Canada jobs in the building trades are: ICI (institutional, commercial, and industrial) Buildings and Infrastructure Project Directors ICI Buildings & Infrastructure Senior Project Managers. ICI Buildings & Infrastructure Senior Superintendents. Infrastructure Commercial and Contracts Managers ICI Buildings & Infrastructure Senior Estimators. ICI Buildings & Infrastructure Design Managers. Infrastructure schedulers.   BuildForce Canada predicts that the construction sector will need the hiring 309,000 new workers by 2030, mainly due to the expected retirement of 259,100 workers (22% of the current labor force).   In Canada, there are more than 195,000 SMEs that hire workers in Red Seal trades. More first-year apprentices will be hired due to the Apprenticeship Service, which will aid in meeting the demands of the Canadian labor market.   To find out more details about “Canada needs more skilled workers to fill jobs in the building trades” you can contact one of our immigration specialists at  Gunness & Associates.   Tel: (416) 604-2669  Email: info@immigrationmatters.info   Gunness & Associates has helped thousands of people successfully immigrate to Canada with their families. Ontario to start foreign-trained doctor CRP in 2023 via Practice Ready Assessment

Ontario to start foreign-trained doctor CRP in 2023 via Practice Ready Assessment

Ontario to launch a foreign-trained doctor credential recognition program in 2023 via Practice Ready Assessment (PRA) programs. By next spring, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) could introduce a three-month program to recognize foreign medical credentials in Ontario. This year, the self-governing body for Ontario’s medical professionals submitted a proposal to the province’s Ministry of Health, a 12-week program designed specifically for internationally trained physicians in Ontario. Practice Ready Assessment (PRA) programs in seven Canadian provinces help foreign-trained physicians who have previously finished their training and practiced overseas.   With the help of supervision and direct observation, the CSPO would be able to:  Analyze the qualifications of physicians with foreign education over the course of 12 weeks. Employ competent candidates in underserved populations. Provide these medical professionals with a route to independent licensing.   In its submission to Ontario Health Minister Honourable Sylvia Jones, the CPSO noted that, with government funding and coordination among key system partners, the program could be put into action right away. This would help to start a new supply of internationally trained physicians into the system as early as spring 2023 and onward.   What is Practice Ready Assessment? The Practice-Ready Assessment (PRA) programs from the National Assessment Collaboration (NAC) are available in seven provinces throughout Canada as a path to licensing for foreign medical professionals who have already finished their residency and worked independently abroad.  Each participating province offers a practice-ready assessment Ontario PRA program where candidates work under supervision and are evaluated over the time of 12 weeks with the aim of obtaining an independent license to practice in Canada. This program is designed to ensure that International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and international physicians possess the clinical knowledge and skills required to provide quality patient care in Canada. With return-of-service commitments providing employment for qualified PRA applicants, the focus is on satisfying requirements in Canada’s rural and remote areas.   How does medicine work in Canada? According to experts, increasing the number of residencies available to physicians with international training will help to address the issue of a medical labor shortage. An applicant must have successfully finished a bachelor’s degree and graduated from a Canadian-accredited medical school in order to practice medicine in Canada. The Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part 1 and the National Assessment Collaboration Examination must be passed by applicants who have just graduated. They must use CaRMS to apply for a post-graduate residency space as well as a work permit for Canada. Through the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Canadian Experience Class under Express Entry, doctors can apply for permanent residence in Canada.   To find out more details about “Ontario to start foreign-trained doctor CRP in 2023 via Practice Ready Assessment” you can contact one of our immigration specialists at  Gunness & Associates.   Tel: (416) 604-2669  Email: info@immigrationmatters.info   Gunness & Associates has helped thousands of people successfully immigrate to Canada with their families.
